For the past week, I’ve been surrounded by nature in every way possible and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t think I ever had such full appreciation for nature until this trip. I glided through a cloudforest by zip line, hiked on the path of magma flow, swam in as many ice-cold waterfalls as I could find, had the most exciting time river rafting for an entire day, and rested my sore muscles in thermal waters at the end of each day. It’s a liberating feeling not having to focus on myself constantly, and just let myself be.
I even had a chance to meet many people from different countries and cultures which surprisingly made me feel more at ease being around people and lessened my social anxiety.
This Cave of Death sign looks like a gimmic but it actually is deadly. There is a toxic gas that settles in lower half of the cave and if you stick your head in too deep, you will chock to death by lack of oxygen and toxin gas. Our guide demonstrated this for us using a fire. See the video below:
Today’s agenda is horseback riding and then thermal waters. I only have a week left now so I’m really going to try to make it count. I’ve also been thinking about my first big tattoo design and I’m so glad that I have a chance to dwell about this with a clear mind.
